A worker in Jasper became trapped under rubble on Tuesday morning as he was working to demolish a building.

We're told the worker was using a Caterpillar loader to tear down an antique furniture store on 1st Avenue and 19th Street in downtown Jasper when the building collapsed on top of him and the loader. He was removed from under the rubble after rescue crews determined the scene to be safe. The worker was not injured and did not seek treatment at a hospital.

City officials closed down 19th Street because they were concerned the front part of the building may collapse.
