Gas prices skyrocket in Alabama

By Christine Pae - email

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Gas prices have climbed steadily for 32 days straight.

AAA said the national average cost per gallon is now $3.73. The average price in Alabama is about $3.57. That is up 18 cents from a week ago.

Drivers at the pump are not too happy about it.

"I don't feel like the prices are justified," said customer Doyal Hyatt. He said he felt they could put any price on it they want and that customers will not have a choice.

Right now, Hawaii is seeing the most expensive gas with an average of $4.29.

The cheapest place to buy gas is actually Wyoming at $3.17.

AAA blames the early price hike on higher crude oil prices and refinery closures.
